Royal Hospital Chelsea

Project: Strategic Consultancy Support for the Department of Public Engagement

In an interim role as the fundraising lead for 12 months, I line managed a team of 5 staff, and increased voluntary income by 60% in that year.  I developed a 5 year fundraising plan with the aim to: increase annual revenue by diversifying income sources and introducing major donor fundraising; to maximise income from two capital projects (developing cases for support and detailed budgets for £18 million of capital works); and planning for a major endowment campaign linked to a national veterans outreach programme.  To support the fundraising, I developed a complementary 5 year Communications and Marketing Strategy – incorporating a brand review, new website, and establishing marketing to support a new direction for the Hospital as it opens it’s gates to the public for the first time in it’s 330 year history.

Testimonial from Gary Lashko OBE, CEO of Royal Hospital Chelsea (to 2024)

"Claire brought us impressive fundraising skills and results, but so much more. She really understood and enhanced our business planning, and helped to deliver robust and clear strategies. She was not only knowledgeable and experienced- bringing good prospects to our table, - but was flexible, responsive, a team player, and the consummate professional. We very much hope we can engage her again at the Royal Hospital Chelsea in the future."
